The PhD Thesis Prize organised by Basque Research was launched in 2003 in order to publicise projects by young Basque researchers. Each year a great number of new PhD research projects are entered for the award which are brought to the public at large via our website. This call enables to know the current state of the research carried out at university level in the Basque Country.

This year, the Thesis Prize has been included in the CAF-Elhuyar Awards. More specifically, there will be new categories in the Awards, all of which will be in the Basque language. In the scientific-technological article category, there will be two awards: one for an article of general scientific-technological interest and the other for an article based on the writer's PhD thesis. Moreover, a science journalism work published this year - 2009 - in the field of will also receive an award.

Finally, a category has been created for awards for science writing aimed at young people. This category receives a grant for the best project linking science and literature.
